The world is now turning into a desert; losing all that is valuable. At a time when values are disappearing and Man is becoming barren and dehydrated, the only silver lining is found in an OASIS, amidst the desert.
The air of our crowded cities is scarcely breathable! Fresh water bodies and the sea is choked by every conceivable pollutant! Trees - indiscriminately cut in the name of development!

With over decades of teaching, and administrative experience, Dr Puja Vijay Sukhija is no stranger to education. She chose to give up her conventional teaching career to strive for a cause she firmly believed in. Armed with her conviction she conceived the idea of OASIS which would allow her to champion the cause of the Environment.
Mr. Shyam Sunder Jaisingh,Founder Trustee
A successful self-made businessman, Mr. Shyam Sunder Jaisingh had to grow up and mature early in life and miss out on playfulness. He thus believed that children must be provided with a platform and environment of joyful learning. This universal parent to all children - is the founder trustee of OASIS.

A financial wizard with a legal background, who believes that Children are innocent, energetic, non-prejudiced, non-hypocritical beings very close to God. Unfortunately with age, children start losing all these divine virtues & their unique identity. Mumbai can become more habitable only when the young torch bearers of the city are nurtured in a manner as to bring out their inherent divine virtues.

With Nirvana as his aim and honesty as his path, this visionary possesses intense solidarity in both thought and action. The message that he wishes to impart to the youth is - “Awaken yourself - In all your actions and deeds”.
In May 1993 tragedy hit the Powai Lake, Mumbai when about 5000 fish each weighing around 20 kg perished overnight due to over pumping of the water by builders. This intrusion by the commercial sector into a natural habitat caused widespread destruction of the flora and fauna. The reaction of the general public to this news was one of apathy and ignorance. But amidst this sea of indifference one Soul sat up and took notice. An Academician by profession Dr. Puja Vijay Sukhija gave up a lucrative career as a school principal and conceived the idea of OASIS (Organisation of Aware Survivor In Society) in 1997.
OASIS is a NGO with the objective of spreading environmental awareness with its prime focus being children and youth. After completing a Doctorate in Environmental Science Dr. Puja single handed set up OASIS and soon after its inception got to work. She believes that people in general take the environment for granted and are oblivious to the threats it is facing. As individuals we have become very self centred and have forgotten the concept of Sustainable Development. But it is high time we understand that our survival is directly related to the environment and our ignorance will get us nowhere. Mahatma Gandhi said, "Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need but not every man's greed", following this statement OASIS relentlessly spreads the message of Environmental Conservation.
So let us take a vow to be united in our mission to restore what we have lost. Let us bring back the greenery and the freshness in the air. What we need is an initiation and utmost dedication. Always remember… 'The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step' (Confucius).
